Competition Riding Team

The Horizons East Competition Team, an integral part of our Riding Academy, invites passionate equestrians to join a world-class training environment. Our all-inclusive program offers unlimited lessons, tailored training, and comprehensive horse care to help you reach your competitive goals. With personalized instruction from our expert coaches, you'll gain the skills and confidence needed to excel in local, regional, and national competitions.

Our Competition Team riders proudly compete at some of the top shows in California and Canada, including West Palm, Del Mar, Sonoma, and Woodside.     • Unlimited Lessons or Horizons East (HE) Rides: Available Tuesday-Saturday.

    • Turnout and/or Walker: Provided 6 days a week (weather permitting).

    • Tacking/Untacking: Available upon prearrangement to ensure staff availability.

    • Veterinarian, Blacksmith, Chiropractor, Dentist Management: Overseeing, managing, and organizing appointments.

    • Horse Show Competitions: Organizing transport, boarding at shows, and overall care of your horse/pony during events.

  • Feeding: Customized plan per horse/pony need

    • Staff at facility 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week

    • Automatic fly system (non-toxic) that operates hourly for the comfort and health of horses and customers

    • Use of the facility

    • Providing and dispensing of grain, vitamins and standard supplements and bran

      • Additional supplements may be recommended for the owner to purchase.

    • Wrapping and caring for injuries (supplies will be billed by HE or the veterinarian)

    • Basic supplies: Shampoo, saddle soap, fly spray, brushes, towels

    • Daily use of the Euro-Sizer (walker), 30 minutes daily.cription text goes here

    • Mane & Tail clipping billed directly

    • Body clipping billed separately

    • Blanketing 7 days a week based on weather conditions

What’s Included In Membership:

  • All members are required to own or lease a horse and keep their horse on site at Horizons East. If you currently do not own or lease a horse, Horizons East offers horse lease and sales options to accommodate your needs.

  • To maintain a spot on the Competition Riding Team, members must participate in a minimum of 10 riding sessions per month.

Prerequisites & Requirements:

  • Day Charge:

    • Single Coach: $125 per day

    • Two or More Coaches: $200 per student, $250 if 3 or fewer riders

    Grooming:

    • Daily Rate: $80 (varies based on transportation and housing for the groom)

    • Tipping: $10 per day, starting from the day the groom arrives at the show

    • Note: There may be times when clients will pay the groom directly, which will be indicated in advance.

    Stalls:

    • Tack/Grooming Stall Costs: Shared by all clients

    Bedding/Hay/Shavings/Grain:

    • Costs are divided among clients' horses. We bring as much as possible and purchase the remainder at the show.

    Medication/Prep:

    • Medications: Bute-Roboxin is administered to keep horses comfortable during the show due to increased usage compared to home use.

    • Additional Products: Gastro-Guard, Perfect Prep, etc., may be suggested.

    Extra Labor:

    • Charged as needed for setting up and packing to leave (does not necessarily include working the show).

    Supplies:

    • Grooming Supplies: Hoof oil, show sheen, fly spray, magic cushion (hoof packing for sore feet), ointments, liniments.

    • Tack Room Supplies: Waters, candies, snacks, horse cookies, carrots.

    • Hardware Setup for Stalls: Shared among individuals.

    Rider Charge:

    • Trainer Riding Fee: $20 per ride if the trainer takes your horse into the show ring (no charge for flat classes).

    Hotel/RV:

    • Costs are split between clients attending the show.

    Laundry:

    • Fee: $10 per horse for all horse show equipment pads, towels, coolers.

    Vanning:

    • Costs are quoted based on distance.

    Expenses:

    • Per Diem: Food, gas for equipment, transporting trunks (varies by horse show and shared by clients).

    Child Care:

    • Overnight Fee: $50 per night, excluding lodging unless they stay in the RV.

    Miscellaneous:

    • Other Charges: Shoes, grading, vet services are paid directly by the individual owner to the vendor.

    • Service Charge: $25 if Horizons East provides payment for any vendor.

    • Outstanding Charges: Any unpaid client charges will incur a service charge.

    • Miscellaneous Payments: You may leave an open check for any miscellaneous payments so we can pay vendors on your behalf if you will not be attending the show.

    • Monthly Fees: Due on the 1st of each month. Payment is late after the 5th, incurring a 15% late fee.

    • Outstanding Dues: Owners with debts exceeding 45 days will not be allowed to show or take lessons until the debt is cleared.

    • Stall Deposit: Required before arrival, refunding the amount based on stall condition.

    • Quarterly Facility Fee: Prices vary based on facility improvements.

    • Hay Delivery Surcharge: Applied when applicable.

  • If you choose to cancel your membership, a 30-day notice is required, and all past due balances must be settled with Horizons East. Please note that billing will not be prorated.

Horizons East IEA Team

The Horizons East Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) program offers young riders in grades 4-12 the opportunity to compete in a team environment without the need to own a horse. Through IEA, riders gain valuable experience in both hunt seat and western disciplines, competing in local, regional, and national events.

Our program focuses on fostering sportsmanship, team spirit, and personal growth, while providing quality instruction and competitive opportunities. By participating in the Horizons East IEA program, riders develop their skills, build lasting friendships, and prepare for collegiate equestrian opportunities. Join us and become part of a dynamic team committed to excellence and equestrian sportsmanship.
